Karim Ajlani is a 32-year-old Syrian racing driver who has made a stunning graduation to the Le Mans Series this season and, in June, will become the first driver from his country to race at the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours.
After beginning his motor racing career in single seaters driving in the French Formula Ford and Renault championships, Karim successfully switched to sportscar racing in 2005. He raced a Ligier in the highly competitive VdeV series and a Dodge Viper for Paul Belmondo Racing in the GT2 class of the Le Mans Series (LMS).
2009 sees Karim graduate full time to the prestigious LMS where he races an LMP2 Pescarolo-Mazda prototype for leading French squad OAK Racing – Team Mazda France. He scored a podium finish in just his second race, at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps, and will fly the flag for Syria at the world’s most famous motor race, Le Mans, in a couple of weeks time.
